Application of Numerical Simulation and Physical Modeling for Verifying a Cold Forging Process for Rotary Sleeves

Abstract This paper presents the modeling of a cold forging process for rotary sleeve. The EN 42CrMo4 steel part was first modeled numerically by finite element method using simulation software DEFORM 3D ver. 11.0. After that, developed verified experimental tests carried out in laboratory conditions with use 1:2 scale tools and material model aluminum alloy AW-6060. Finite (FEM) results demonstrated that sleeves could be formed from tubes forging. Results showed, however, inside hole work piece might not adhere to surface sizing pin. Distributions strain stress during are determined. Geometrical parameters forged parts obtained compliant dimensions simulated FEM. In addition, forces show high agreement FEM simulations.
